Itinerary

This program will allow you to visit two sides of the Tambopata reserve at the same time, the most visited due to its striking beauty, one of them the macaw sighting area and the Sandoval lake area, it is an unforgettable experience that nature offers.

DAY 01:  RECEPTION / WALK IN THE FOREST DAY & NIGHT

The journey begins when you arrive at Puerto Maldonado to embark on an outboard boat along the Madre de Dios River to Ecolucerna Lodge (approximately 1 1⁄2 hrs downstream). Upon arrival you will enjoy a tasty lunch made from organic ingredients and native flavors. After lunch you will take a walk through the natural trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary forest, its components, uses, man-made transformations, and its relevance to the world. This walk will end at night where you will have the opportunity to observe the behavior of the nocturnal flora and fauna of the Amazon.

Returning to the Lodge you will enjoy a refreshing traditional dinner.

DAY 02:  SANDOVAL LAKE & NIGHT CAYMAN SAFARI

Today you will live a day of many emotions, after having a nutritious breakfast, you will get ready for a walk along the Tambopata National Reserve, which will lead you to Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is known as the biodiversity capital of Peru. You will learn about the conservation work of the Reserve and about the formation of the lake, sailing in a canoe through this mirror of water, home of the endangered giant otter, the blue and yellow macaw, and one of the freshwater fish largest in the world “el Paiche”.

At night you will have an interesting night excursion, you will navigate the Madre de Dios River, to learn about its ecosystem, Amazonian ravines, and the behavior of nocturnal fauna on the banks of the river. Our day

It ends with a traditional dinner in the dining room.

DAY 03: BREAKFAST / TRAVELTO ALTO TAMBOPATA / NIGHT WALK

After breakfast, we prepare to travel until we reach another hostel near the Collpa de

“Chunchos” macaws. Today we must prepare for a first 2-hour boat trip along the Madre de Dios River.

to Puerto Maldonado, from here another 2 hour trip by van until reaching the Philadelphia area on the upper river

Tambopata and finally a 50-minute canoe trip until we reach the lodge, once here we can

enjoy the fauna and Amazonian environment somewhat different from the others, which will complement with an infallible

Walk around the area in search of wildlife in the area.

If we still have energy left, our guide will offer us to ascend to the platform and have a privileged view

from above.

Our day ends with a restorative dinner, since tomorrow we will have to get up early to travel

DAY 04: “CHUNCHOS” MACAW CLICK & CHECK OUT TO PUERTO MALDONADO

We get up very early (4:20 am), to embark on an incredible BOAT travel route to the largest macaw clay lick in the region “CHUNCHOS”, a trip of approximately 1 hour by boat, along the way we will have the opportunity to see some species such as capybaras [largest rodents in the world] tapirs,

and even the jaguar, many of our clients are witnesses with photographic evidence of encounters with these beautiful felines. After reaching the macaw clay lick, you will see hundreds of parrots of different species (11) coming to eat clay. We will settle into our chairs to wait for one of the most impressive natural views in the world to begin. We will see the most colorful macaws in America, red and green, blue and yellow birds and other birds feeding on clay necessary in their daily diet to eliminate toxins.

We return to the city of Puerto Maldonado on a combined trip by dirtroad and river, ending in the main square or at the airport.
