TAMBOPATA EXTREME 5D/4N

It is our longest and most complete program in a reasonable and balanced time. You will have enough time to enjoy the magic of the Amazon and take home a comprehensive experience.

DAY 01: RECEPTION / TRANSFER TO TAMBOPATA RIVER / WALK IN THE FOREST

The journey begins when you arrive at Puerto Maldonado to embark on an outboard boat along the Madre de Dios River to Ecolucerna Lodge (approximately 1 1⁄2 hrs downstream). Upon arrival you will enjoy a tasty lunch made from organic ingredients and native flavors. After lunch you will take a walk through the natural trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary forest, its components, uses, man-made transformations, and its relevance to the world. This walk will end at night where you will have the opportunity to observe the behavior of the nocturnal flora and fauna of the Amazon.

Returning to the Lodge you will enjoy a refreshing traditional dinner.

DAY 02: MACAW CLAY LICK “CHUNCHOS” & DESCENT TO BAJO MADRE DE DIOS

We get up very early to embark on an incredible 1-hour trip to reach the largest clay deposit in the region “COLLPA CHUNCHOS”, along the way we will have the opportunity to see some species such as capybaras, tapirs, and even the jaguar. After reaching the macaw clay lick, you will see hundreds of macaws of different species. We will settle into our chairs to wait for the most impressive bird show you have ever witnessed to begin.

We return to the first shelter and take the option of kayaking in the river if time permits. Later we were going to move to the lower Madre de Dios river. A combined boat/car/boat stretch until you reach the next lodge. Here, your guide will offer a night walk available before and enjoy a traditional Amazonian dinner that is already an icon in our services.

DAY 03: SANDOVAL LAKE & NIGHT CAIMAN SAFARI

Today you will live a day of many emotions, after having a nutritious breakfast, you will get ready for a walk

along the Tambopata National Reserve, which will lead you to Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why

Madre de Dios is known as the biodiversity capital of Peru. You will learn about the conservation work of the Reserve and about the formation of the lake, sailing in a canoe through this mirror of water, home of the endangered giant otter, the blue and yellow macaw, and one of the freshwater fish largest in the world “el Paiche”.

At night you will have an interesting excursion, you will navigate the Madre de Dios River, to learn about its ecosystem,

Amazonian ravines, the behavior of nocturnal fauna on the banks of the river. Our day ends with

a traditional dinner in the dining room.

DAY 04: ARTISANAL FISHING IN GAMITANA & VISIT TO CANOPY TOWER

Today will be a morning of adventure, we head to the bridges built 15 meters above the ground, right in the treetops with a privileged view that will allow us to enjoy a unique, relaxing and informative landscape. We will have the opportunity to observe birds, and if luck accompanies us, a mammal in the middle of the Amazon. After this adventure we return to the Lodge to continue enjoying your stay.

In the afternoon, after lunch, we can visit the gardens and native farm to taste fruits and

seasonal harvest. A Social project with the purpose of education in agriculture towards the local population and reducing the

incidence of felling forests and green areas. This portion of the day can be changed with activities such as

Artisanal fishing or visit to the native family of Bococo.

DAY 05: MORNING BIRDWATCHING & CHECK OUT TO PUERTO MALDONADO

This morning you will be free to enjoy the sunrise and capture the impressive views of the Madre de Dios River. And why not, join the bird watching tour at dawn and on the way back enjoy one last nutritious

breakfast with organic ingredients from our pantry.

Your guide and the staff in charge will bid you farewell and briefly thank you for your visit before saying goodbye.

Finally you will travel by canoe with outboard motor back to Puerto Maldonado.

Depending on your flight departure time, you can go directly to the airport or request to drop it off at the center

to get to know the city a little more and calmly wait for the flight or bus time.
